Seafood Recipes - Buffalo Shrimp Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Creole-style seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined with tails attached
  • 4 cups oil for frying
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 ounces hot pepper sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

    Instructions:

    1. In a gallon size siplock plastic bag combine the first 6 ingredients.
    2. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and place them in the plastic bag with the flour mixture.
    3. After sealing the bag, shake well to coat the shrimp completely.
    4. Place shrimp on a baking dish or cookie sheet and chill for 20 minutes.
    5. To make the buffalo sauce: whisk together garlic cloves, butter, hot pepper sauce and cayenne pepper; set aside.
    6. In a pot or fryer, heat the oil to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
    7. Coat the shrimp a second time and place them in the hot oil to fry.
    8. Fry until pink, approximately 2 to 3 minutes.
    9. Dip into the buffalo sauce.
    10. Arrange on serving plater.
