Halloween Recipes for Your Fun Halloween Party Tombstone Treats Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 4 cups miniature marshmallows
- 7-1/2 cups crisp rice cereal
- 1 tube (18 ounces) refrigerated sugar cookie dough
- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 32 wooden toothpicks
- 1 teaspoon water
- 4 drops green food coloring
- 1-1/2 cups flaked coconut
- Black decorating gel
- Vanilla frosting
- 1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips, melted
- Candy pumpkins
Instructions:
- Melt butter over low heat in a large saucepan. Add marshmallows and melt completely.
- Remove from heat and add in cereal and stir until well coated. Press into the greased pan with a buttered spatula and cool.
- Mix cookie dough and flour in a large mixing bowl. Roll out dough to one quarter inch thick on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut out sixteen tombstones from dough by tracing a pattern on wax paper. On un-greased cookie sheets place tombstones two inches apart.
- Insert two toothpicks halfway in the dough along the bottom edge of each cookie.
- Bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Remove and cool on wire racks.
- Mix water and green food coloring in a large re-sealable plastic bag. Mix in coconut. Seal bag and shake to coat and set aside.
- Tint frosting gray by using black gel. Frost sugar cookies and use black gel to decorate.
- Cut cereal bars into three inch by two inch rectangles and spread with melted chocolate. Attach cookies to cereal bars with toothpicks. Using coconut and candies, decorate tombstones as you like. Serves: 16.
