Spider Web Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup confectionery sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Edible glitter
  • 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips, melted
  • Milk chocolate M&M's
  • Orange nonpareils

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Cream butter and confectionery sugar in a large bowl. Then beat in orange peel and egg. Add flour gradually and mix well.
  3. Place dough in a pastry bag that is fitted with a large round pastry tip.
  4. Squeeze dough out of pastry bag and onto baking sheets lined with foil.
  5. The spider webs should be about four inches high and four inches wide. Gently brush each web with water using a pastry brush.
  6. Using edible glitter, sprinkle the webs lightly.
  7. Bake at 375° for 8-10 minutes or until set but not browned.
  8. Let cool for one minute and then place on wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Place the melted chocolate in a re-sealable plastic bag and cut a small hole in a corner of the bag.
  10. To make spiders, place two or three M&M's on each web with the melted chocolate.
  11. Attach nonpareils with melted chocolate to make eyes for spider. Make spider legs around each M&M by squeezing melted chocolate from bag. Serves: 18.
