Halloween Recipes for Your Fun Halloween Party Graveyard Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup baking cocoa
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 eggs
FROSTING:
- 1/4 cup butter
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons baking cocoa
- 2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 18 cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies; crumbled
- Green and brown decorator's icing or gel
- 9 cream-filled oval vanilla sandwich cookies
- 1 cup Cool Whip® whipped topping
- Pumpkin candies and gummy worms, optional
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 13"x 9"x 2" baking dish.
- Mix flour, sugar, baking soda and salt in bowl.
- Bring butter, water and cocoa to boil over medium heat and add to flour mix and beat well.
- Add sour cream and eggs and continue beating.
- Pour into baking pan. Bake for 35-38 minutes. Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes.
- While cake cools, boil butter, milk and cocoa in saucepan.
- Remove saucepan from heat and add in sugar and vanilla. Pour this mixture over the warm cake.
- Sprinkle the chocolate cookie crumbles and spread them over the frosting on the cake. Let cake and frosting cool completely.
- To make tombstones, use icing to decorate vanilla cookies with scary words or scary faces and place on cake.
- To add ghosts, make mounds of whipped topping and use icing to add eyes and mouths.
- Refrigerate for about 1 hour. If needed, you can add pumpkins and gummy worms before serving. Serves: 16.
