Ingredients:

• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon ground ginger
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions:
Layer the ingredients into a quart jar.

For the Tag:

Gingersnaps Mix

• 3/4 cup shortening
• 1/4 cup molasses
• 1 slightly beaten egg
• Contents of jar

Empty contents of jar into a mixing bowl and mix with spoon. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in molasses and egg. Shape dough into 1-inch balls, and roll them in sugar. Place on ungreased baking sheets; bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes. Remove from baking sheets immediately.

Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
