Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter-flavored shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package (10 ounces) peanut butter chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease cookie sheets.
  2. Cream shortening and sugars until light and fluffy in a large bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after adding each egg. Add water and vanilla and beat well.
  3. In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt and add gradually to the other bowl and mix well. Add peanut butter chips and nuts and stir well.
  4. Drop by tablespoonfuls two inches cookie sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are firm. Let cool on wire racks. Serves: 36.
