Ingredients
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- Peanut halves
- Black shoestring licorice, cut into 2-1/2-inch pieces
Instructions:
- Cream peanut butter, sugars and butter in a large bowl. Add in vanilla and egg and beat well.
- In another bowl, mix flour and baking soda and gradually add to other bowl. Cover and chill dough for four hour or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Roll into one inch balls. Pinch one end to form a teardrop shape.
- Place two inches apart on un-greased cookie sheets and press to flatten.
- Place two peanuts on each cookie near the pointed end to make ears. At the opposite end of the cookie make a ½ inch deep hole for the tail by using a toothpick.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
- Insert licorice tails while cookies are still warm. Let cool on wire racks. Serves: 24.
