Crinkle-Top Chocolate Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

Instructions:

  1. Melt one cup of chocolate chips and stir until smooth.
  2. Beat sugar and butter, in a bowl, for about two minutes or until crumbled. Mix in egg whites and vanilla and beat well. Add in the melted chocolate and stir well.
  3. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Then gradually add this and the water to the other bowl by alternating between the two.
  4. Add the remaining chocolate chips and stir well. Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator for two or three hours or until it is easier to handle.
  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and coat cookie sheets with cooking spray.
  6. Remove from the refrigerator and roll the dough into one inch balls. Roll the balls in the confectioners' sugar and place on cookie sheets two inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until set. Let cool on wire racks. Serves: 42.
