Cookie Recipes Index Bear Claw Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1-1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup baking cocoa
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2-1/2 cups sweetened puffed wheat cereal
- 3 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips, melted
- 2 tablespoons slivered almonds
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl and then add two eggs one at a time and beat well after adding each one.
- Add in vanilla and beat thoroughly. In another bowl, mix the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt and then add gradually creamed mixture.
- Combine in cereal and stir. Cover bowl and chill in the refrigerator for about one hour or until the dough is easy to handle.
- Roll the dough into one inch balls and drop two inches apart on cookie sheets. Then flatten the balls with a glass dipped in sugar.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes or until edges are firm. Let cool on wire racks.
- Put melted chocolate in a plastic bag and cut a small hole in the corner of the bag. Spread three drops of chocolate on each cookie and place an almond on the drop to make claws. Serves: 36.
