Cookie Recipes Index Gingersnaps Recipe
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup dark molasses
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 to 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 to 3 teaspoons ground ginger
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Cream the butter, sugars, egg and molasses in a bowl, then add flour, salt, cinnamon, baking soda and ginger and mix well.
- Cover bowl and chill in the refrigerator for one hour.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into shapes.
- Bake for 5-6 minutes or until set on a non-greased cookie sheet. Place cookies on wire rack to cool. Serves: 6 dozen.
