Beginner Scrapbooking Ideas
8 Easy Steps to Creating Your First Layout

  1. Select a set of photos to work on. For this first one-page layout 3 to 5 photos will be good.

  2. Select three pieces of paper. They can be three different colored cardstock or one pattern piece with two coordinating cardstocks.

  3. Choose a focus. This can be one main photo, or two photos placed side by side. Crop this photo first, then do the rest of the photos in the set.

  4. After you have the pictures cropped, you'll be able to arrange them on the page. If you do not have enough room for all of the pictures, re-crop or choose a picture to leave out.

  5. Mat your pictures. Adhere them to your page.

  6. Title using your pens, alphabet stickers or computer fonts.

  7. Journal! Simply tell the story, add the date, etc. You can computer journal, print it out and mat it, or just write it out in your own hand.

  8. Add embellishments such as punch art or die cut art, paper piecings, stickers, etc.
