Learn Peyote Stitch
Flat Even Count Peyote

The flat even count peyote stitch is the easiest form of peyote to learn. Some designers dislike this stitch because the designs cannot be symetrical as there is no center bead. But beaders, especially beginngers, love it as it is easy to turn in the rows, which is what makes the even count peyote easier to do than the odd count peyote.

1.) Leaving a six inch tail, string a stop bead. String an even amount of beads, six for this example.

2.) To start the next row, which will turn out to be row three, pick up bead number 7 and go through bead number 5, pick up bead number 8 and go through bead number 3, pick up bead number 9 and go through bead number 1. You now have row one, two and three completed.

3.) Continue to increase the peyote rows by picking up a bead and going through the next uplifted bead. For instance, the next step in our example would be to pick up bead number 10 and go through bead number 9.
