Save Your Money Tips
Money Saving Tip #41
Reduce Child Care Expenses
Previous Money Saving Tip | Main Money Saving Tips Index | Next Money Saving Tip
First of all, you can cut child care costs by using flexible scheduling. See if you can telecommunicate, job share or work more flexible hours to cut down your hours away from home. Secondly, find out if your employer offers discounts for services such as child-care providers. You can also save on taxes by paying your child-care expenses with pre-tax dollars, so participate in your employer's flexible spending account program if available. Another option is to alternate your work schedule with your spouse's or relative's, so you can reduce the hours your child will have to be in day care. Also, if your public school district offers half-day pre-k programs for 4 year olds, you should enroll your child, because it's free and reduces your child care costs to half a day.
